A man stabbed to death in a north London street was the fifth murder victim in the area since January.

The man, aged in his 20s, was found lying in Bedevere Road, Edmonton, shortly after 2100 BST on Monday.

Police said they know the identity of the victim but are awaiting formal identification. A post-mortem examination will take place soon.

The murder is the fifth in Edmonton since the start of 2008 - four of the previous victims were teenagers.

University student Michael Alexander Jones, 18, was found beaten and stabbed to death in his Edmonton home last month.

Two weeks earlier, Ofiyke Nmezu, 16, from Upper Edmonton, died from a head injury during an assault in Fore Street.

No arrests

Boduka Mudianga, known as Louis, was stabbed to death on 21 January.

And Henry Bolombi, 17, was stabbed to death in Plevna Road, hours after celebrating the New Year in central London.

Regarding the latest murder, a police spokesman said: “We retain an open mind re motive [for the killing] at this very early stage.”

Officers have appealed for witnesses to the incident and of the three men, described as black, seen running from the scene.

So far no arrests have been made over the latest incident. Inquiries are continuing.

My comment: 5 murders in 4 months, Jackie Smith walking round her constituency wearing a stab-vest. When is it going to equate with these idiots that there is a serious problem that needs to be addressed in London. When are we going to take knife and gun crime seriously and TACKLE it rather than try and brush it under the carpet.

I have ranted about this before so am not going to repeat myself, instead, I am suggesting a petition be placed on the No.10 website demanding tougher laws and sentencing in the vain hope that something can be done before we lose the lawful society we live in.
