Album Review - BBC Radio 1 - Established 1967
I am a regular listener to Radio 1 and bought this album after hearing a couple of the tracks played on the air. I must admit to being a bit sceptical as this originally sounded like just another album of half baked covers thrown together to take advantage of a money making opportunity. How wrong I was, I admit to being extremely surprised at the quality of the tracks throughout both discs. Highlights for me were superb performances by Keane (Under Pressure), McFly (Town Called Malice), Razorlight (Englishman in New York) and Lily Allen (Don’t Get Me Wrong). Not only were these tracks superb and a credit to the original songs and artists but the rest of the album kept me hooked from start to end (unusual for me, I usually wear out the skip buttons on CD & MP3 players diving between tracks.
